Highland Heights Hurricanes

  • 2007 Finish: 1st
  • Strongest Age Groups: 8&Under Boys, 9-10 Boys, 11-12 Girls
  • Most Improved: 9-10 Boys
  • Highest-Scoring Swimmers: David Mirando (13), Lenny Sterle (13), Joseph Libertin (8), Anthony Piazza (8), Zachary Hostoffer (10), Nick Elia (9), Natalie Poremba (11), Agnes Mirando (12), Jane Verdi (14), Antonia Kopp (15), Joey Cerer (12), Michael Kondratiev (11).
  • PROGNOSIS: Highland Heights continues to become worse overall, but is still the clear favorite to claim the 2008 crown.

Willoughby Stingers

  • 2007 Finish: Third
  • Strongest Age Groups: 8&Under Girls, 9-10 Girls, 13-15 Boys
  • Most Improved: 11-12 Girls, 13-15 Boys, 8&Under Boys
  • Highest Point-Scorers: Katie Golnick (11), Joey Svitavsky (8), Kirsten Boni (10), Rachael Zarlinski (10), Heather Svitavsky (9), Summer Svitavsky (9).
  • 2008 Prognosis: On the surface, Willoughby looks good enough to place 2nd this year. Mentor is a determined team talented enough to edge them out, however. Still, a run at Highland Heights can't be ruled out.

Mentor Marlins

  • 2007 Finish: Second
  • Strongest Age Groups: 11-12 Boys, 13-15 Girls
  • Most Improved: 8&Under Boyus, 11-12 Boys
  • Highest Point-Scorers: Alex Lingafelter (Male, 11), Stephen Cox (12), Zachary Korman (12), Shana Nameth (15), Alexandra Korman (15), Mary Boone (13), Erin Lowthian (8).
  • 2008 Prognosis: Mentor just doesn't look strong enough to place in the top two in 2008. They have many swimmers in the right positions to contend, however, and can't be ruled out from a chance to top Willoughby, and maybe even the purple storm.

South Euclid/Lyndhurst

  • 2007 Finish: Fourth
  • Strongest Age Groups: 9-10 Boys, 8&Under Boys
  • Most Improved: 9-10 Boys, 13-15 Girls
  • Top Point-Scorers: Alexa Hoynacke (13), Alex Iosue (11), Thomas Loya (9), Austin Bruck (9).
  • 2008 Prognosis: SEL held on to 4th last year, and they are by far the most consistant team through the eight age groups for 2008. They have many swimmers in many age groups who are very talented and can carry their respective age group, much like Pinegate did in 2004. For this year, 4th seems likely, but RH and EUC are close behind, and improving.

Richmond Heights Sharks

  • 2007 Finish: 5th
  • Strongest Age Groups: 8&Under Girls, 9-10 Girls, 11-12 Boys
  • Most Improved: 9-10 Girls, 13-15 Girls
  • Highest-Scoring Swimmers: Rachael Ciferno (14), Jacquelyn Anderson (15), Claire Cerne (9).
  • 2008 Prognosis: It's going to be another dog fight for Richmond Heights, as they will be nipping at the heels of South Euclid/Lyndhurst while simultaneously trying to shake Euclid. RH is improving, but they may fall to 6th because Euclid is improving even more.

Euclid Panthers

  • 2007 Finish: Sixth
  • Strongest Age Groups: 13-15 Boys, 8&Under Girls, 11-12 Girls
  • Most Improved: 13-15 Girls, 13-15 Boys
  • Highest Point Scoring Swimmers: Derek Hren (13), Jack Joyce (13), Samantha Lisy (12), Hannah Bush (13), Mike D'Arcy (11).
  • 2008 Prognosis: Euclid seemingly has it all: A great coach, good 13-15 leadership, the best swimmer in the league (Sam Lisy) and a balanced attack as well. Pinegate, Willowick, Wickliffe, and Eastlake chant in unison, "Get Euclid out of Division 2!!!"

Pinegate Gators

  • 2007 Finish: 9th
  • Strongest Age Groups: 9-10 Girls, 13-15 Girls
  • Most Improved: 9-10 Girls, 9-10 Boys
  • Highest-Scroing Swimmers: Steven Stokes (12), Carley Berman (15), Jarod Rausch (9).
  • 2008 Prognosis: Pinegate looks as consistent as SEL, but only on a "Division II" level. Each age group will contribute, but Wickliffe and Willowick's power age groups may keep PG at bay in 9th.

Eastlake Vikings

  • 2006 Finish: Tenth
  • Strongest Age Groups: 8&Under Girls, 9-10 Boys
  • Most Improved:9-10 Boys
  • Highest Scoring Swimmers: None.
  • 2008 Prognosis: Unfortunately, Eastlake is barely hanging on to their identity as a team in the Suburban Swim League. If the team manages to stay together for the 2008 season, it can be assumed that they will finish in a distant tenth place and swim all their meets away, much like the 2007 result.

Wickliffe Water Devils

  • 2006 Finish: 7th
  • Strongest Age Groups: 8&Under Girls, 13-15 Girls, 13-15 Boys
  • Most Improved: 8&Under Girls, 8&Under Girls 13-15 Girls, 13-15 Boys
  • Highest Scoring Swimmers: Noah Cvijanovic (11), Lilija Taraska (8), Silvija Taraska (8)
  • 2008 Prognosis: Wickliffe has division II's best 15 year old boys, 13 year old girls, and the league's best 8 year old girls. Will these bright spots be enough to maintain 7th for this team with little else to count on?

Willowick Wildkats

  • 2007 Finish: 8th
  • Strongest Age Groups: 8&Under Boys, 11-12 Boys
  • Most Improved: 8&under Boys, 9-10 Girls, 11-12 Boys
  • Highest Scoring Swimmers: None
  • 2008 Prognosis: Expect Willowick to fall a bit this year. They will most likely rebound in 09, but there should be a slight "honeymoon's over" sentiment about this team. Other SSL squads will take notice, and while this team may still be better than Pinegate and Eastlake, expect Wickliffe to avenge their 2007 dual meet defeat this summer.
